Useful EBSCOhost® Tools When Writing a Thesis | January 14, 2021 | Time: 1:30 p.m. EET

A training designed for students preparing to write their master's thesis. During this practical session, we show you how to effectively use the functions available on the EBSCOhost platform, such as: saving articles to the cloud or Google Drive, citing an article, saving search history, creating and using a personal My EBSCOhost account, saving results to a folder, creating alerts, and exporting bibliographic data to programs such as Zotero, Mendeley, EndNote.

It provides full text, indexing and abstracts for the most noted scholarly sources in the humanities. During this training we will provide detailed information about the content together with live search examples based on the available resources.

Practical training during which participants will learn how to use EBSCO eBooks online, how to download full e-books and chapters, how to use e-books on smartphones, tablets and readers and how to download and authorize Adobe Digital Editions.

EBSCO Databases Available Through the National License in Latvia and Lithuania | January 20, 2021 | Time: 11:30 a.m. EET

During the session, we will review the EBSCO databases available for institutions through the national license in Latvia and Lithuania. The end users have access to EBSCO Open Dissertations™ - an international database of diploma theses and dissertations, and many extensive scientific databases. The Academic Search™ Complete and Business Source® Complete databases, included partly in the package, are among the most frequently used scientific resources in the world.

During this session, we will show an overview of EBSCO resources dedicated to music and art studies. The training will start with a presentation showing the most important features of databases such as Music Index™ with Full Text, RILM Abstracts of Music Literature with Full Text, International Bibliography of Theatre & Dance™ with Full Text, Film & Television Literature Index™ with Full Text. After that we will move to a practical review of the EBSCOhost platform. Based on real examples, we will explain basic and advanced search screen, search modes, search codes, limiters and expanders.

In this webinar, historian of science Dr. Alexander Hall will discuss how digitised databases of historical documents can be used by historians to generate new insights into the history of science and its changing place and role within society. Drawing on examples from the archive of the British Association for the Advancement of Science (BAAS) and associated collections recently digitised as part of the Wiley Digital Archives project, Dr. Hall will introduce examples that explore how the networks and connections revealed by the archive can shape outputs at all levels.
